New Marmite Biscuit
07 Jan 2005, Seamus Waldron
PRESS RELEASE
The new Marmite Biscuit, inspired by Marmite Cookbook author Paul Hartley and made by Fudges Bakery of Dorset, is set to become the talking point over dinner tables across the country.
With the unmistakable taste of Marmite, these crunchy wholemeal biscuits can be eaten with a variety of both sweet and savoury toppings, dunked into creamy dips, served with a cheese board or just enjoyed on their own. Wherever they appear, the glossy black box of Marmite biscuits will be as recognisable as the much loved and trusted Marmite jar. The Marmite Biscuit was created by Paul Hartley, founder of breakfastandbrunch.com and author of the best-selling Marmite Cookbook, in association with Unilever Bestfoods UK and produced by the award-winning Fudges Bakery. The distinctive 'love it or hate it' savoury taste is a good source of B vitamins and has a loyal fan base in the UK. Paul Hartley commented: "People who buy Marmite are completely passionate about the brand and we think these new Marmite biscuits will go down a storm. Already well-known as a breakfast and snacking brand, this will probably be the first time that Marmite appears on the dinner table. Market research has shown that even some Marmite 'haters' confessed they love this biscuit!" Today Marmite is one of the UK's most well established brands, worth in excess of £25 million. The new Marmite Biscuits come in a 150g box, RRP £1.99, and will be available in Waitrose stores and most independent retailers nationwide from 27 September 2004. Aw, absolutely delicious - I Love it, especially on buttered toasted nutty pumpkin seed bread.
Sometimes I crave it so much, I will dip a finger into the pot for just a quick satisfactory suck - couldn't wait for the toast.
I wonder what it taste like for those who hates it. Perhaps there is something missing biologically in their body... you never know, maybe one day scientist will study the differences between Marmite lovers and Marmite haters.

I was rather disappointed when I tried the marmite biscuits. Tasted nothing like marmite. Tis a shame really too. My mum said they were different too but she still liked them.
Carlu Portsmouth, UK
I love them - on their own they are lovely, with butter even more so. I miss the Marmite muffins that Sainsburys used to do about 10 years ago (the bread was infused with Marmite - bring them back I say!)

Hey all my fellow Marmite-Maniacs! It's Ian here! How are you all? This may sound crazy, but are there any laaaaadies out there close to Romford who are interested in arranging a meeting? It's so hard to find someone who shares my taste in Marmite so I thought I'd try my luck on here! Doesn't matter who you are or what you look like - the ONLY CONDITION is that you love my mate marmite. As I always say, "If the Marmite ain't spreadin', There ain't no weddin'"!
Love,
Ian

Can I just say that I absolutely LOVE Marmite! I would sell my mother for it and that's putting it lightly, I can tell you.
I thought I'd post here in the hope of meeting someone who shares a similar infatuation - either to talk about it in more detail or for something a little more special!!! Look forward to hearing from you soon!
All my love

We moved to America about 3 years ago from Scotland and found out that they didn't have any marmite. I was devastated! NO MARMITE??!! But we come back to England to see our family twice a year so we have to stock up like mad. Come to think of it, there is one shop which sells marmite, but only those really small jars which aren't even big enough for a piece of toast! And they cost about $6 per jar! It's terrible, but I had to learn to live with it. I love marmite!!!!!!
Evie America, of all places!

More heavenly than chocolate! I bought 1 box of these before Christmas and I was hooked straight away. I bought 3 boxes last week and passed my last one on to a friend...who's now also hooked! So much for the New Year's diet! All I need now is for you to persuade a local store to stock them instead of having to travel 10 miles for them!!
S Hill Herts.
